A Commitment to True Impact
The Zamzam Relief and Development Foundation was established in Nigeria with a clear, uncompromising vision: to alleviate hunger, reduce poverty, and improve the quality of life for vulnerable individuals and communities through sustainable humanitarian assistance. Guided by a transparent Board of Trustees, we operate under a strict accountability framework ensuring that 100% of funds generated are expended solely toward our humanitarian objectives, with zero diversion for administrative profits or bonuses.
True to this mission, we have officially launched our very first major community intervention project, stepping into the life of a family that embodies both profound struggle and extraordinary resilience.
Meeting Malama Hafsat
Malama Hafsat’s life took a heartbreaking turn following the death of her husband, Mallam Kudabi. Left behind in a tiny room carved out of her late husband’s house, she and her four surviving children have had to fight daily just to survive. The family’s path has been marked by deep grief—including the tragic loss of a son away from home, and another to the devastating grip of drugs.
Yet, despite these crushing trials, the remaining family members refuse to surrender to their circumstances.
Shukrah, the youngest daughter, spends her days frying and selling awara (local tofu) by the roadside to contribute.
Malama Hafsat takes on manual labor, doing laundry and minor tasks for neighbors to earn a modest daily crust.
Her older children are desperately striving to stay in school and build a secure future.
The Intervention: A Blueprint for Sustainable Support
When the Zamzam Relief team encountered Malama Hafsat’s family, we knew immediate, structured intervention was necessary to break the cycle of hardship. Designed around our pillars of food security and social support, our comprehensive assistance package includes:
1. Economic Empowerment: We provided foodstuffs and provisions to help Malama Hafsat establish a functional retail business right from her street, creating a steady, self-reliant source of income.
2. Educational Security: Education is the greatest equalizer. Zamzam Relief has assumed full responsibility for the children’s schooling:
Covering complete registration and exam fees for the eldest son as he prepares to write his WAEC.
Providing full tuition and school support for the children entering SS1 and JSS1.
1. Monthly Financial Sustenance: To ensure stability during the transition, the foundation has committed to a monthly upkeep allowance to cushion daily living expenses.
